Shelby – the cute pooch starring within the film, “A Dog’s Way Home” — is on the middle of a defamation lawsuit towards PETA, which flat-out lied about animal abuse … in response to Shelby’s homeowners.
Paws for Effect is the corporate that adopted and educated Shelby for her starring function. She’s reportedly a mixed-breed pup who was rescued from a shelter in Tennessee — so, a real Hollywood rags to riches story. However, Paws for Effect says it was blindsided by what it calls PETA’s smear marketing campaign forward of the film’s launch.
In docs obtained by TMZ … Paws says PETA first fired off an e-mail to an exec at Sony Pictures, the distributor of ‘Dog’s Way Home’ … alleging Paws had racked up citations beneath the Animal Welfare Act. PETA allegedly repeated that declare to an “unknowable” variety of movie business varieties.
Paws says PETA’s e-mail is a straight-up lie, and insists it’s by no means acquired a single quotation beneath the AWA. According to docs, PETA both knew its assertion about Paws was false, or might simply have discovered if it did the slightest little bit of analysis.
